A roof rack gives you an extra space for hauling cargo and luggage. But, before you take off, make sure you’ve loaded the rack properly. That way you and the cargo can get to your destination safely.

Check out your vehicle’s roof rack. If it has cross bars, you need to keep the cargo within the square created by the side and cross bars. Use a cargo box or bag to store the items. Remember your cargo’s going to be out in the rain and elements, potentially going up to 60 mph down the road.

Install the box or bag to the rack first, then load the contents. Use a minimum of four cam-buckles straps to secure it. Use two going from side to side and another two going from front to back. Before your next trip, set an appointment to have routine service done here at Robert Basil Buick GMC in Orchard Park, NY.
